Patriots Should Steal Five-Time Pro Bowler From Bills In Free Agency

The New England Patriots have made some important moves this offseason, but their pass rush could still use some help.

The Patriots signed Dre'Mont Jones, but lost K'Lavon Chaisson. With the release of Anfernee Jennings as well, the pass rush not only needs depth, but could still use a star. There are not many premier free agents remaining, but five-time Pro Bowler Joey Bosa remains unsigned.

Bosa spent last season with the Buffalo Bills, but he is not the player he once was. He had just five sacks last season and has not posted a double-digit sack season since 2021. He is going into his 11th season and could be a cheap, low-risk addition for the Patriots. At the very least, he could be a rotational pass rusher.

Bosa was a Pro Bowler as recently as 2024. He managed 16 quarterback hits and nine tackles for a loss last season to go with his five sacks. He had five forced fumbles and two passes defended. He still started every game he played in at 30 years old.

He still plays with great effort and has a great motor. At this point in his career, he is likely seen as a situational pass rusher. He could play a solid role for a Patriots defense that is looking to improve from recording just 35 sacks last season. A healthy Harold Landry and Jones should help, but adding Bopsa gives the Patriots another talented pass rusher to deploy.

Spotrac projects him to sign a two-year, $27 million deal. However, if his free agency drags on, he could sign on a cheaper one-year deal. If any player is going to sign a one-year deal, why not sign with a team coming off a trip to the Super Bowl with a young, MVP-caliber quarterback?
