Barcelona president Joan Laporta has set 2028 as the target year to begin construction of the new Palau Blaugrana.

Laporta revealed that the plan is to link it up with the works of the Spotify Camp Nou Football stadium.

Meanwhile, Barcelona continues to play at the historic Palau Blaugrana, which first opened in 1971 and was later renovated in 1994 and 2016.

Despite its long history, the arena has a capacity of just 7,585 seats, something the club hopes to improve with a bigger and more modern venue.

Earlier plans expected the Nou Palau Blaugrana to be completed in 2028.
