AFC North Roundup: How Each Team Has Fared In Free Agency

The first week of 2026 NFL free agency is nearly complete, which means a majority of the big moves have already been made. Roster shuffling continues all the way up to next season, but the picture is starting to take shape across the AFC North. Which teams improved, and which teams have major question marks after the first few days of the new league year?

Here’s a breakdown of all the AFC North free agency moves as of March 13.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals prioritized their own free agents while making a few key additions on defense. Defense has been the Achilles heel of a decent roster for years, but will the additions be enough? Especially when considering they finally lost Trey Hendrickson — and to a division rival — the answer might be no. Expect another defense-heavy draft for the Bengals.

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens made plenty of headlines in free agency, some good and some bad. It started with the blockbuster trade for DE Maxx Crosby that fell through due to a failed physical. Instead, the Ravens signed Trey Hendrickson to upgrade their pass rush for much less cost. Meanwhile they bled talent elsewhere on the roster, losing key C Tyler Linderbaum, TE Isaiah Likely, and even utility FB Patrick Ricard. The Ravens will look much different in the Jesse Minter era.

Cleveland Browns

The Browns are going through what is essentially a full OL rebuild with most of their 2025 starters departing. Instead of relying on big swings in the draft, Todd Monken and company are filling the roster with NFL veterans in free agency. It’s a decent collection of talent, but how will it all come together. And how will that bode for Shedeur Sanders, Quinshon Judkins, and their young core of talent overall?

Pittsburgh Steelers

This free agency period has followed a pretty similar pattern to 2025 for the Steelers. They traded for a wide receiver to kick off the action and then filled positions of need with veteran players. Except this time it was Michael Pittman Jr., Jaquan Brisker, Jamel Dean, and Rico Dowdle instead of DK Metcalf, Juan Thornhill, Darius Slay, and Kenneth Gainwell. This year’s haul looks slightly better on paper. At the least, the Steelers set themselves up to not get cornered into choosing just one position group in the upcoming draft.
