Trent McDuffie is a Ram now after the Kansas City Chiefs agreed to trade the All-Pro cornerback to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a package of draft picks that also includes the No. 29 selection in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Drafted in the first round in 2022, McDuffie was a pillar of the Chiefs’ recent championship run. During their back-to-back Super Bowl wins, he played in 10 postseason games, recording 31 solo tackles, 9 assists, and 1 fumble recovery.
In four seasons, he became one of the league’s top defenders while also witnessing the intense media circus surroundingTravis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s high-profile personal lives. Anyways, it seems he is now a Swiftie.

While in Kansas City, McDuffie watched as Swift became a fixture around the team. In an interview with ESPN Los Angeles after the trade, McDuffie spoke highly of meeting her, offering a warm endorsement of her presence in the locker room.
“I have [met Taylor Swift]. She is a very special woman. Down to earth, genuine,” McDuffietold ESPN Los Angeles. “I remember when I first met her, it was a little bit of nerves, but she gave me a big hug. [She] knew my name, knew my position, knew football.

He added, “And I was like, ‘Wow, this is surreal. This is a moment that I’ll remember forever, just me and Taylor Swift, being able to just actually have a normal conversation. It was really cool. So a lot of respect to Taylor Swift, and shout out to Travis too.'”
So, safe to say, McDuffie is card-carrying Swiftie territory now.
Trent McDuffie heads to LA as highest-paid CB
It is worth mentioning that his trade was a business decision above all else. At 25, McDuffie became the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history after signinga four-year, $124 million extension with $100 million guaranteed.
He told the Rams he is happy to play anywhere in the secondary. “Whether I’m nickel, whether I’m corner… you’re going to get the best of me,” hesaid, even joking he would join the defensive line if he didn’t have to put his hand in the dirt.
The move is also a homecoming. McDuffie grew up in Southern California and attended St. John Bosco High School. He recalled watching Sean McVay on “Hard Knocks” in 2020 and thinking he’d like to play for him. Now, he headlines McVay’s secondary as the league’s highest-paid corner.
