Barcelona are reportedly preparing to open discussions with Chelsea over a possible summer deal for winger Pedro Neto, as the Spanish giants look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the next transfer window.
Reports emerging from Spain claim the Catalan club have added Neto to their shortlist of potential signings and are closely monitoring his situation at Stamford Bridge. Barcelona are planning several reinforcements this summer and believe the Portuguese international could bring pace and creativity to their forward line.
The 26-year-old winger joined CHELSEA in 2024 from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a deal worth more than £50 million and quickly became an important part of the Blues’ attacking setup.
According to reports, Barcelona are targeting improvements in several areas of their squad, including a centre-forward, centre-back and winger. Neto’s versatility is believed to be a key reason why the club are considering a move.
The Portugal international is capable of playing on either wing and can also operate centrally when required. His explosive pace and direct style have reportedly impressed Barcelona’s scouting department.
Although Lamine Yamal and Raphinha remain key attacking players at the Camp Nou, Barcelona are keen to add depth and competition on the flanks as they prepare for another demanding season across multiple competitions.
Reports also suggest Neto’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has a strong relationship with Barcelona’s hierarchy, which could potentially help facilitate discussions between the two clubs if interest becomes concrete.
Despite the rumours, Neto remains an important figure at Chelsea. The winger has delivered key performances since arriving in London and continues to be viewed as one of the squad’s most dynamic attacking players.
This season he has contributed goals and assists while showcasing his ability to stretch defences and create chances in wide areas. Reports also suggest he could have a clause in his contract that may facilitate a transfer if he pushes for a move in the future.
However, CHELSEA paid a significant fee to sign Neto and would likely demand a major offer before considering any deal.
Will Chelsea let Neto leave?
The Blues invested heavily to sign the winger and he is entering the prime years of his career. Selling him after a few seasons could disrupt the team’s attacking structure and force the club to reinvest in another wide forward.
There is also the issue of squad balance. CHELSEA have assembled a young attacking group and Neto’s experience and versatility make him valuable within that setup.
That said, Chelsea have shown in recent years that almost every player has a price. If Barcelona were to table a substantial bid — potentially exceeding what the Blues paid to sign him — the club might at least consider negotiations.
