Chelsea consider extending 23-year-old star's contract after sealing Reece James deal: Reports

Chelsea are reportedly considering extending Levi Colwill's deal after tying down club captain Reece James with a new contract. As claimed by Absolute Chelsea on X, both parties are looking to extend their association.

The Blues announced the news of Reece James extending his deal at Stamford Bridge until 2032. The England international has been at the west London club since the age of six and was made club captain in 2023.

James' earlier contract at the club was due to expire in 2028 and the club handed him a new deal early to avoid him from entering the final year of his deal. He has made 225 appearances for the Blues so far scoring 16 times and providing 31 assists.

Like James, Levi Colwill has also come through Chelsea's esteemed youth ranks and is regarded very highly by the club. The defender has not featured at all this season since being ruled out with an ACL injury in August 2025.

The left-footed defender, who can play either at centre back or at left back, has made 75 appearances for his boyhood club till date. He has also earned five caps for England.

Chelsea plotting a sensational move for Arsenal defender: Reports

Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a sensational move for Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori. The Italy international is believed to be unhappy at the Emirates as he wants to play at centre-back which he believes is his natural position.

Calafiori has been mostly used at left-back by Mikel Arteta during his time at Arsenal. And, the 23-year-old has been pretty impressive in that role whenever he has been called upon.

He has made 56 appearances for the Gunners till date scoring four times while producing five assists. However, he is reportedly exploring his options as he wants to play as a centre-back.

Chelsea are looking to take advantage of the situation as they look to bring in a quality centre-back. It has been reported that chances of the move across London are not seen as impossible.

Chelsea and Arsenal have a long history of buying players from each other and they have done transfers in recent years also. The likes of Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke and Kepa Arrizabalaga are among the recent examples to have played for both London clubs.
