JJ Redick says Luka Doncic deserves more MVP recognition

Lakers coach JJ Redick praised Luka Doncic for his all-around play, calling him MVP-caliber and saying he doesn't get enough recognition.

Luka Doncic continues to shine for the Los Angeles Lakers, but it's his unique ability to balance aggression, skill, and leadership that has caught the eye of Lakers coach JJ Redick.

After the Lakers' 142-130 win over the Chicago Bulls, Redick highlighted what makes Doncic so special on both ends of the floor.

"He's been high-volume, high-efficiency for about two and a half months now," Redick said per Spectrum SportsNet. "It's so important, it just sets up the rest of his game when he's making 3s. It obviously gives us life. It can be a kill shot some nights, it can be a run-stopper some nights."

Redick also praised Doncic's mental composure and ability to channel emotions, including trash-talking exchanges on the court.

"It's a unique trait. It's not just the fact that he responds to a rough play or trash talking, it's that he can channel it. And he can channel it while still doing all the other things that needs to be done. And that's obviously reflected in his defensive rebounding, his assists, his steals. Again, another game where he gets the high assist number with low turnovers. He's playing as well as anybody in the NBA right now, and it's probably not being talked about enough," he concluded.

In Thursday's game against the Bulls, Doncic finished with 51 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists, and three steals, shooting 13-of-20 after a slow first quarter and hitting nine of 14 from three.

On the season, Doncic averages 32.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 8.5 assists per game while shooting 47.5% from the field and 36.7% from three.
