Kerr scores again and Carpenter features as Australia reach Asian Cup semi-finals

Sam Kerr scored again as Australia secured their place in the Women's Asian Cup semi-finals – and qualified for the 2027 Women's World Cup – by recording a hard-fought 2-1 win over Korea DPR in Perth.

The Chelsea forward played a starring role in the tournament hosts' win, as her ninth-minute pass enabled Alanna Kennedy to break the deadlock. Kerr then doubled Australia's advantage in the second period with a fine left-footed finish from the edge of the box.

It certainly wasn't easy for Australia, though, as Korea DPR pulled a goal back and applied pressure. However, the Matildas, for whom Blues defender [Ellie Carpenter](/en/teams/profile/ellie-carpenter) completed 90 minutes, hung on to seal victory and advance into the last four.

Australia will face either China or Chinese Taipei in the semi-finals, depending on the result of the match between the two, which will take place at 5am (UK time) on Saturday.

The Matildas' last-four encounter will take place on Tuesday 17 March at 10am (UK time).
