Mikel Arteta provides fitness update on 2 key Arsenal stars ahead of Everton clash

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has shared fitness updates for key players Martin Odegaard and Leandro Trossard ahead of their clash against Everton in the Premier League. The Gunners are at the top of the league table and must win the upcoming game on March 14 to keep up the momentum.

Martin Odegaard has been out of the pitch since his last appearance in Arsenal's 4-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur, where he came off the bench for 13 minutes. The Gunners captain has been out since February due to a knee problem. Meanwhile, Leandro Trossard injured his hip during the North London side's 2-1 victory over Mansfield Park in the FA Cup fifth round.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of their Everton clash in the Premier League, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta shared updates about Odegaard and Trossard. He said (via football.london):

"Let's see. We will have to speak to the doctors to see whether they are involved or not. (on Trossard) Yeah, he felt something, and if you’re not 100 per cent, then you cannot play."

All eyes will be on the Gunners' clash against Everton this weekend as they stand on 67 points off 30 games. Meanwhile, fellow title contenders Manchester City are second with 60 points off 29 games, with their game in hand being against West Ham United on March 14. If the Gunners do not continue winning, the Sky Blues may have a chance to catch up with them in the final months of the title race.

In the pre-match press conference (h/t Arsenal's official website), Mikel Arteta weighed in on their title race with Manchester City. He spoke about the importance of maintaining the gap between the two teams, saying:

"Well, I mean, every game that you win now is a massive step towards the objective. And tomorrow, as you said, we have a very difficult one. So, yeah, we're going to have to earn it. And if we do earn it, we're going to be closer."

Apart from the Premier League, the Gunners are also the favorites to win all the other competitions they're taking part in. They will face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on March 22, and Southampton in the FA Cup quarter-finals on April 4.

They're also among the contenders to win their first Champions League title this season if they continue with their form. If they win all the tournaments, Arsenal will achieve a historic quadruple this season. However, the season is far from over and the North London side have much to do to achieve the same.
