Insider Reveals New Team Showing Interest in A.J. Brown; Should The Patriots Be Worried?

The New England Patriots have reportedly been showing interest in A.J. Brown, but they are not the only contender interested in him.

Even after signing Romeo Doubs, the Patriots reportedly remain interested in trading for Brown. The Philadelphia Eagles' reported asking price is still high, but adding Brown would completely change the outlook of the Patriots' offense. They have already shown they can be one of the best offenses in football, but adding Brown would make them dominant and add a receiver with the ability to make big plays in big games.

However, other contenders could use him as well. According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the Los Angeles Rams discussed trading for him and are continuing to monitor the situation.

"Last week, I was told the Rams discussed trading for Eagles WR A.J. Brown before dealing for CB Trent McDuffie," Russini wrote on Friday. "Dialogue slowed, but Los Angeles continues to monitor the status of the three-time Pro Bowler with interest. We’ll see where both parties go from here."

The Rams already have Davante Adams and Puka Nacua. Adding Brown would give them one of the best trios the NFL has ever seen. Matthew Stafford is not getting any younger, so the Rams may feel a sense of urgency to go all in.

The Patriots, and seemingly every team, are unwilling to meet the Eagles' asking price right now. However, after June 1, when the cap implications for trading Brown change for the Eagles, the price could drop. That's when things could potentially heat up again, and the Rams could be competition for the Patriots.

The Patriots may need to worry that the Rams can offer more than they can. Their first-round pick this year is actually the Atlanta Falcons' first-round pick. That pick is more valuable than the Patriots' first-round pick. The Rams also have a very aggressive front office, so they could be willing to outbid the Patriots in the end.
