Reece James’ new deal at Chelsea has been met with sheer jubilation from players past and present, as they flocked to the announcement on the club’s official page.
Chelsea fans were treated to the news that Reece James was handed a new deal at Stamford Bridge, running for six more years.
Reece James’ rise from the Cobham academy to Chelsea captain has been sensational. Since his 2019 debut, the 26-year-old has amassed over 225 appearances, lifting five major trophies including the Champions League.
Despite missing 114 matches since 2021 due to injury, he has enjoyed a transformative 2025/26 season, playing 35 times, his highest tally in four years.
Now captaining the side for over 50 games, a new six-year deal is just reward for his efforts.

Reece James posted a message on his Instagram after signing his new deal at Chelsea.
‘𝗧𝘄𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝘄𝗼. 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹💙’
Moises Caicedo replied, ‘My skip 💙💙’.
Former Chelsea winger Willian also replied with just a ‘💙’.
Other players included Ben Chilwell, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Jesse Derry, Levi Colwill, Tosin Adarabioyo, Dario Essugo, Jorrel Hato and Estevao Willian.
