The Golden State Warriors are no strangers to chasing records. They hold the record for the most regular-season wins in NBA history after winning 73 games during the 2015-2016 season. They overtook the Chicago Bulls for that record.

Draymond Green was part of that 73-win Warriors team. He has been a key part of the four titles that the organization has won over the past decade or so. He knows what it takes to break records and the pressure that comes with that.

A lot of pundits and fans have crushed Bam Adebayo for the way he scored 83 points against the Wizards to score the second-most points in NBA history. Green is not one of them. In fact, he has a harsh message for the detractors of that performance.

Warriors’ Draymond Green Crushes Haters of Bam Adebayo’s Historic Performance

While speaking on The Draymond Green Show, Green gave his full opinion on the matter.

“Y’all want Spo to feel bad for that team, that organization, and take Bam out of the game and not let him go after the record? Why? I hate these unwritten a– rules in basketball. I always talk about these. Don’t shoot the ball, don’t score the ball when you’re ahead and the clock’s running down. F— that! It’s a basketball game!”

Green was happy that Adebayo continued to play it out so he could have his part in history.

“If you’re losing, it’s okay to go shoot the ball because you’re losing. But if you’re winning, it’s not okay because you’re winning. What the hell is that? Feel bad for winning? ‘You’re supposed to take him out of the game because you’re up so many points.’ Says who? There’s time on the clock. It’s not his fault they stink.”

Draymond Green Would Agree With Erik Spoelstra

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra has the same feelings that Green does about the situation. He made it clear that he apologizes to no one for how he handled Adebayo’s minutes at the end of the game.

“Look, no, I apologize to absolutely no one. Period. And going into the game, it’s a Tuesday night game against a team where they’re not playing for anything, where their organization is trying to lose,” Spoelstra said. “We’ve already lost a game in that kind of situation. We have players that are sitting out.”

Green is one of the most competitive players in the NBA. He will always try his hardest on the court, no matter how much time is remaining. He will continue to do that throughout the rest of this season as the Warriors try to chase a play-in spot.

With Stephen Curry out, the Warriors’ offense has slipped. They now have the 16th-best offense in the league. Curry will continue to be out for a little while as he is still dealing with a knee issue, as well. Green might need to increase his offensive output while Curry is still out.

Golden State sits ninth in the Western Conference standings at the moment.
