Barcelona want to sign £54m-rated Chelsea star instead of Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford in the summer: Reports

Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea star Pedro Neto ahead of Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford this summer. Rashford has been on loan at Barca since the summer of 2025.

Marcus Rashford's tenure at Barcelona has been a mixed bag so far. The Englishman hasn't been a regular starter, but has recorded 10 goals and 13 assists in 38 outings across competitions. His loan deal with the Catalans will end this season, while Barca have an option to buy him for a reported €35 million. The Catalans were reportedly considering buying Rashford, but the latest reports suggest otherwise.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are now keen on signing Chelsea winger Pedro Neto ahead of Marcus Rashford this summer. Neto is reportedly rated around £54 million. Rashford is reportedly still in contention to join the Catalans permanently, but they are also weighing other options.

Pedro Neto is reportedly one of their top targets, after Barca received positive reports from the scouting team about the Chelsea winger. Neto has recorded 10 goals and six assists in 42 outings across competitions this season. His contract with the Blues runs until 2031.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford is reportedly willing to sign for Barcelona permanently. His contract with Manchester United runs until 2028, and it is unclear whether they would like to bring Rashford back, given his high wages. His situation at Barca could also depend on the upcoming presidential elections. If Joan Laporta wins, he would seemingly like to keep the Red Devils star, but it is unclear how things will play out if Victor Font wins.

In an interview with Jijantes FC (h/t Barca Universal), Barca president Joan Laporta hinted at his plans of keeping Marcus Rashford at the club. If Laporta wins the presidency once again, his plans would be to retain the Manchester United loanee.

"We could extend the loan more, we depend on what Deco wants. There are formulae, such as paying part of the purchase option to Manchester United, and the rest we will see. He gives us good numbers in goals and statistics, good vibes, and is very much for the foundation," Laporta said.

It is unlikely that Manchester United will let Marcus Rashford leave for anything below the reported €35 million. The situation will depend on how the presidential elections pan out. Barcelona are also hunting the market for a new striker and a centre-back, so Rashford's situation will depend on the Catalans' financial standing as well.
