NFL free agency is a time for franchises to not only sign players who have had success with other organizations but also reunite with familiar faces.
Regarding the Kansas City Chiefs, the Pro Football Network’s Alex Kennedy believes that the franchise could reunite with a five-time All-Pro wide receiver and Super Bowl champion.
“Having been released by the Dolphins, Tyreek Hill now finds himself an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his illustrious career,” Kennedy wrote Wednesday. “
“At 32 years old with declining numbers, coming off a season-ending injury, and having the risk of issues coming up off the field, he is a risky player to sign to a multi-year contract.”
“However, in the four games he played before getting hurt, Hill was on a 17-game pace for 1,127 receiving yards. He was a first-team All-Pro and came in second for Offensive Player of the Year voting just in 2023. A competing team could look to lure him on a one-year deal to see if he can get them over the hump. Potential Landing Spots: Chiefs, (San Francisco) 49ers, and (New England) Patriots.”
As the Chiefs’ best vertical threat in the late 2010s and early 2020s (2017-22), Hill didn’t find it challenging to find his rhythm in the Chiefs’ offense.
The lightning-quick 32-year-old wideout recorded at least 1,000 passing yards in four of his six seasons with the Chiefs and totaled 62 total touchdowns during his noteworthy stint in Kansas City.
After the 2021-22 campaign, the Chiefs traded Hill to the Dolphins for a first-round pick, a second-round pick, two fourth-round picks, and a 2023 sixth-round pick.
Hill was a high-level contributor for Miami early on, but decreased production and a significant ACL setback prompted the Dolphins to part ways with the veteran receiver after the 2025-26 season.
Considering Hill’s partnership with Patrick Mahomes was magical just a few seasons ago and the Chiefs could use an established wideout who knows what it takes to succeed in Andy Reid’s offense, it would be smart for the franchise to consider bringing the Douglas, Georgia native back for another stint.
