Liam Rosenior cites Roy Keane example while defending Chelsea star for his outburst against Filip Jorgensen in PSG loss

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has compared Enzo Fernandez to Manchester United legend Roy Keane after he shouted at teammate Filip Jorgensen. He believes that such outbursts are normal on the pitch and necessary to push players to do better.

Speaking to the media, Rosenior admitted he wanted the incident back when Fernandez was seen screaming at Jorgensen after his mistake against PSG. He brushed it aside as a normal incident following a mistake and said:

"I watched it back, I was asked about it after the game, I hadn't seen it. As a player with passion, he wants to win. Roy Keane did that probably. Roy Keane was my manager, but Roy Keane as a player probably did that 20 times a game.

"I want a team with a culture of accountability where we can demand from each other in the moment. Enzo loves Filip, Enzo wants the best for him, Enzo believes in him. In that moment he was frustrated with something that happened and that's normal, isn't it?" (via Football London)

Talking about the mistake that led to PSG's third goal and them taking control of the match, Rosenior added that the he has no issues with Jorgensen, as everyone makes mistakes and said:

"Everybody makes mistakes in life, in football. It's how you recover, it's how you respond to a setback. I've got no issues, no lack of trust with the two goalkeepers I have. I'm really, really looking forward to getting back on the pitch with what happened in the last 15 minutes on Wednesday."

Chelsea were drawing 2-2 at PSG when Jorgensen's mistake while trying a difficult pass helped the home side take the lead. The French side ended up winning the first leg 5-2.

Liam Rosenior happy with goalkeeping options at Chelsea

Liam Rosenior was quizzed whether he was happy with the goalkeepers in his Chelsea squad and the manager was quick to praise both players. He said that Jorgensen's mistake should not take away from his performance against Aston Villa and PSG until the mistake, while Robert Sanchez was praised as one of the best goalkeepers in the league.

"For sure. Obviously, I made a decision to play Filip [Jorgensen] against Aston Villa and his performance was outstanding and contributed to a very good win against a very good team. I think his performance for 75 minutes was magnificent. He makes a mistake and we get punished and we go on to lose a game in a manner that we definitely shouldn't have lost. Rob Sanchez is one of the best goalkeepers in the league." (via Football London)

Chelsea face Newcastle United at home on Saturday, before facing PSG in the second leg next week.
