Happy Friday, and I hope yinz are doing well.
It’s been a busy week for the entire NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers included. They jumped out early into the tampering period with a trade for Michael Pittman Jr., landing him for a very cheap late pick swap, then signing him to a three-year extension. Pittsburgh also brought in Jamel Dean at cornerback and retained Asante Samuel Jr. on the first day of free agency.
There were some other moves afterwards. Pittsburgh lost names like Calvin Austin III, Miles Killebrew, Kenneth Gainwell and Connor Heyward. But they managed to add a few as well. Darnell Savage, Rico Dowdle and Sebastian Joseph-Day are some of the more recent signings.
It’s also been busy around the AFC North. Especially in Baltimore. The Ravens made headlines pulling out of the Maxx Crosby trade, who now seems to be happy in Las Vegas, and ended up getting their two first-round picks back in the process. The very next morning, they brought in Trey Hendrickson as some extra help on the edge.
As always, we’re here with you throughout the weekend for whatever news comes our way.
Have a safe and happy weekend.

Recap: Free Free Agency Weekend: Steelers Friday Night Five Questions
Let’s go, people!
Q1: With Smith/Anderson released, which current Steeler is most likely to be let go next, ahead of free agency?
Steelers Depot respondents believed that LB Malik Harrison was most likely to be released before the Free Agency period began. Ginko18 correctly predicted “No one. Harrison will be cut if we draft LB before R5.”
Q2: Under the new coaching staff, which current Steeler will see the most improvement in 2026?
Dylan Cook will see the most improvement in 2026, according to a plurality of Depot respondents. But eight other players mentioned. Lots of optimism that the new coaching staff will improve the play of a variety of players, including Will Howard, Calvin Austin (if re-signed), Payton Wilson, Broderick Jones, Kaleb Johnson, Pat Freiermuth, TJ Watt, and DK Metcalf.
Q3: If the Steelers lose Isaac Seumalo, who should they bring in to replace him at left guard?
Isaac Seumalo is gone. Spence Anderson and shifting Broderick Jones to guard are mentioned as internal replacements at LG. But Browns free agent, Zion Johnson, is the only one with multiple votes. Other free agents mentioned included Chargers Mekhi Becton, Panthers Cade Mays, and Cowboys Brock Hoffman. Among those, only Becton and Hoffman remain available. Peter-Petersen went to the draft and named Penn State guard Vega Ioane.
Q4: Which upcoming free agent do the Steelers need to retain the most?
We were evenly split between wanting to retain Kenneth Gainwell, James Pierre, and Aaron Rodgers. Gainwell (Tampa Bay) and Pierre (Minnesota) signed elsewhere, leaving Rodgers as the free agent we need to re-sign.
Q5: Between now and the NFL Draft, how many outside free agents do you predict the Steelers will bring in?
Respondents predict five outside free agents signed by the NFL draft. So far, three outside players have
been picked up—plenty of time for more to be signed.
