Baltimore Ravens edge rusher Maxx Crosby.
Maxx Crosby made it clear that he’s sticking with the Las Vegas Raiders after a blown-up trade to the Baltimore Ravens, and an NFL insider is clearing up any lingering doubts about his future.
Crosby was set to head to Baltimore before the Ravens abruptly backed out of the deal after receiving the results of his physical. Though there had been some initial suggestion that the team could try again to trade him, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the last remaining team is officially out of the running.
Maxx Crosby Trade Speculation Ending
Speaking on ESPN’s “Get Up,” Schefter reported that the Chicago Bears — the team most linked to Crosby after the failed trade to the Ravens — no longer have the resources to pull off the deal.
“The Bears don’t have any more money right now, Greeny. They’re broke. They’re out of money,” Schefter said, via SI.com. “And so I know people love all this and coming up with concoctions and imaginations and scenarios where a team like the Bears could come up with a player like Maxx Crosby. Sorry to be a party pooper there.”
The Bears had been seen as one of the top landing spots for Crosby as the team looks to build on an NFC North title and continue solidifying their Super Bowl hopes. But Schefter slammed the door on the Crosby trade talk.
“The Bears don’t have the money to make a move like that right now,” he said.
The Bears already lost out on another star edge rusher when the Ravens rebounded quickly from the aborted Crosby trade to sign Trey Hendrickson.
Maxx Crosby: ‘I’m Back’
Crosby himself planted his flag in Las Vegas, saying after the Ravens trade blew up that he’s back with the Raiders for good.
“Everything Happens For A Reason,” Crosby shared in a post on X. “Believe Nothing You Hear & Half Of What You See. I’m A Raider. I’m Back. Run That Sh*t.”
It had reportedly been Crosby’s discontent with the team that led to the trade in the first place, but now that he’s back — and happy — the Raiders are no longer thinking about trades, noted Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
“Per a league source, the Raiders are currently telling teams that defensive end Maxx Crosby won’t be traded, in the aftermath of the failed effort to ship him to the Ravens for a pair of first-round picks,” Florio reported. “The Raiders, we’re told, never wanted to trade him. He wanted out. Now that he’s back and has publicly recommitted to the Raiders, he’s staying put.”
Crosby also returned to Las Vegas quickly to continue rehab for a knee injury that cut short his 2025 season. The edge rusher’s agent, C.J. LaBoy, said in a post on X that Crosby’s rehab is going well and he’s on track to take the field for offseason practices.
“Maxx continues to be on track in his recovery and if anything is ahead of schedule according to his surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache,” LaBoy wrote. “Maxx remains on track to return during the offseason program & will undoubtedly return as the dominant game wrecker he has been these past 7 seasons.”
