For playing 51 games this 2025-26, the star big man is set to earn an increased amount in his guaranteed salary for next season. From $16.9 million, his 2026-27 salary is now $25.3 million.
Williamson signed a five-year max contract extension with the Pelicans during the 2022 offseason. The final three seasons (2025-26 to 2027-28) of the deal include strict, non-guaranteed clauses based on regular weight checks and games played.
Before the start of the 2025-26 season, he has a $0 earning for next season. But after reaching 41 games last February, he instantly amassed guaranteed 40% ($16.9M) of his 2026–27 salary.
As such, playing 51 games now would let him earn more and have $25.3 million next year.
If he reaches 61 games, another 20 percent will be guaranteed ($33.7M total). The remaining 20 percent will be determined by having a weight of less than 295 lbs.
If Williamson checks all the criteria by the end of the season, he will earn a total of $42.1 million in 2026-27.
Entering Friday's matchup against the Houston Rockets, Williamson is averaging 21.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.
