The Los Angeles Rams have rebuilt their cornerback room this offseason, trading for Trent McDuffie and then signing Jaylen Watson in free agency. If Watson has his way, the Rams could pursue another former Kansas City Chiefs star in L’Jarius Sneed.
The Tennessee Titans released Sneed on Friday in a cost-cutting move and drew overtures from Watson soon after.
If pursued, the move would recreate a proven Super Bowl champion trio at the cornerback spot.

Sneed was a fourth-round pick by the Chiefs in 2020. Like McDuffie to the Rams this offseason, KC traded Sneed to the Titans in 2024. After two seasons in the AFC South, the Titans cut Sneed this offseason, a move that got Watson’s attention.
Sneed posted an image of himself, McDuffie, and Sneed along with fellow former teammate Joshua Williams, who notably signed with the Titans this offseason.
He simply captioned it with a smirking emoji and tagged Sneed.
“Jaylen Watson trying to recruit L’Jarius Sneed to the Rams [eyes looking emoji],” TickPick affiliate Holden Cantor posted on X on March 13 in reaction to Watson’s overt attempt to add another ex-Chief to the mix in LA.

Sneed, 29, is coming off an injury-plagued and ineffective two-year stint with the Titans that included a four-year, $76.4 million extension.
He played in 12 games across his two seasons.
After allowing less than 55% completion in back-to-back seasons, including his first with the Titans, Sneed allowed 61.3% completion in 2025, per Pro Football Reference. The Titans also lead the league in cap space, framing their decision to cut ties with Sneed.
Still, playing with an already strong group that added familiar faces could be the ideal recipe for a career resurgence for Sneed, and a boost for the Rams.
Such a move would certainly fit their M.O. regarding the position.
Rams, Chiefs Taking Differing Approaches to Same Position

CBS Sports’ Joel Corry, a former agent, noted the differing approaches the Rams and Chiefs have taken regarding their cornerback rooms.
The Rams’ decision to not only trade for McDuffie but also make him the highest-paid corner in NFL history earned them a “Super Bowl or Bust” label from Corry. He noted the Rams’ Super Bowl potential and that they are trying to “capitalize” on having quarterback Matthew Stafford.
The Los Angeles Rams surely view the 2025 season as a missed opportunity after the Seahawks won Super Bowl LX,” Corry wrote in an article remarking on some of the biggest contract moves of the offseason on March 13. “The Rams doubled down on the defense’s biggest weakness by significantly upgrading at cornerback.”
Conversely, the Chiefs, Corry noted, “have a history of letting cornerbacks with expiring contracts walk in free agency.”
Charvarius Ward and Kendall Fuller preceded Sneed, both leaving as free agents.
The Chiefs have been more proactive with Sneed and now McDuffie, while the Rams landed Watson in free agency. Corry noted the cost-benefit analysis worked out in the Chiefs’ favor, thanks to the Rams, regarding McDuffie.
“The draft capital the Chiefs received for McDuffie was a better alternative than the compensatory draft choice — a 2028 third-round pick at best — that would have been awarded if he had left in 2027 free agency,” Corry wrote, adding that “Kansas City was never going to make him the NFL’s highest-paid cornerback at $31 million per year with a contract extension.”
The Rams still have 2025 starter Emmanuel Forbes, so Sneed could come in as a low-risk, potentially high-reward flier in free agency.
