Chelsea v Newcastle United: TV channel, injury news and why Arsenal v Everton is also on TV at the same time as Eddie Howe and Liam Rosenior’s sides clash at Stamford Bridge.
The Magpies impressed in midweek against Barcelona, responding from a dismal performance against Manchester City in the FA Cup last weekend to put in a solid display against the La Liga giants - one that really should have ended in victory. Chelsea, meanwhile, were hammered 5-2 against PSG, although they know that a win on home turf this evening would see them move third in the Premier League table.
Newcastle United have only ever recorded one Premier League victory at Stamford Bridge, with that sole win coming way back in 2012 and courtesy of a stunning brace by Papiss Cisse. Here, we take a look at everything fans need to know ahead of Newcastle United’s clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge:
What TV channel is Chelsea v Newcastle United on?
The Premier League clash between Newcastle United and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge will be shown on Sky Sports Premier League. Coverage on that channelgets underway at 5pm.
Crucially, the game won’t be shown on Sky Sports Main Event. That channel will instead show Everton’s trip to the Emirates Stadium.
Why are there two Premier League 5:30pm kick-offs?
Usually, there is just one Premier League match that is shown on TV in the 5:30pm slot on a Saturday evening. However, this weekend, there are two matches.

That is because the second-leg of Arsenal’s Champions League Round of 16 tie against Bayer Leverkusen was chosen to be played on Tuesday 17 March by UEFA. Sky Sports had originally picked to show the Gunners’ clash with Everton on TV on Sunday, but because of UEFA’s scheduling that match had to be brought forward.
The game could not be moved to the early slot on Saturday, due to Arsenal being away in Germany on Wednesday night, whilst TNT Sports already had the 8pm kick-off slot boxed off with their pick of Manchester City v West Ham. Therefore, the only time that the match between Arsenal and Everton could be shown on TV in the United Kingdom on Saturday was at 5:30pm - unfortunately clashing with the game across London at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea v Newcastle United injury news
Howe confirmed on Friday morning that he is not expecting any of his sidelined players back in action this weekend. That means that Bruno Guimaraes, Fabian Schar, Lewis Miley and Emil Krafth will all miss out at Stamford Bridge.
Guimaraes and Schar are expected to return to action after the international break, whilst a knee injury will keep Krafth out of the rest of the season. Miley, meanwhile, could be back in the coming days and may be available to Howe for the trip to Barcelona or next weekend’s clash with Sunderland.
Liam Rosenior, meanwhile, will be without Estevao tonight as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Levi Colwill is currently sidelined with an ACL injury and faces a race against time to play again this season.
