Chelsea forward Lauren James has ended speculation about her future by signing a new contract with the club, reaffirming her commitment to the Women’s Super League champions and providing a major boost ahead of the new season.
The 24-year-old England international has been one of the standout performers in women’s football over the past few years, attracting interest from several top European clubs. However, CHELSEA confirmed that James has agreed fresh terms that will keep her at Stamford Bridge for the foreseeable future.
James joined Chelsea from Manchester United in 2021 and has since developed into one of the most exciting attacking players in the Women’s Super League. Known for her creativity, pace and technical ability, she has become a key figure in Emma Hayes’ side and a fan favourite.
Her new deal effectively ends months of speculation linking her with a potential move abroad. Several clubs across Europe had reportedly been monitoring her situation, but Chelsea were always confident that the forward would commit her long-term future to the club.
Speaking after signing the new contract, James expressed her happiness at continuing her journey in west London: ‘Chelsea has always been my home,’ said James after signing her new contract at our Cobham training base.’ And it just means so much to my family and me.
‘I started coming here at the age of six, and to be still living my dream here, and to have extended my time here, it makes me really proud.’
James enjoyed a superb campaign last season, playing a crucial role as Chelsea competed for major honours domestically and in Europe. Her performances for both club and country have cemented her reputation as one of the brightest stars in the women’s game.
The new contract also signals CHELSEA’s intent to keep their core squad together as they look to maintain their dominance in English football while continuing their pursuit of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
With her future now settled, Supporters will be hoping the talented forward can help the Blues get back to their very best.
