Moises Caicedo has high standards for himself, and they come from watching some of the very best to ever do it in Chelsea legends Claude Makelele and N’Golo Kante.
If there’s one thing guaranteed for Chelsea, it’s that Moises Caicedo is one of the first names on the teamsheet in his midfield spot.
All of the people who questioned the hefty price that Chelsea paid for him have now gone quiet, and Caicedo is even in line for a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
This follows on from the new contract that Chelsea handed out to Reece James, and the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Levi Colwill could also follow.
However, rather than focusing all his thoughts on when his new deal might be delivered, Caicedo has been sharing all in an interview about Chelsea.

Moises Caicedo wanted to play with Claude Makelele and N’Golo Kante
In an interview with Sky Sports Premier League, Caicedo was asked about which former Chelsea player he would love to have played with at Stamford Bridge.
If you could play with one player in Chelsea’s history, who would it be and why?
“Can I say two? Kante and Makelele, I watched some videos of him because I was very young, he was incredible, that’s why, N’Golo Kante as well, they give everything for their club, so he was inspirational for me.”
Funny enough, Gary Lineker thinks that Caicedo is a more complete version of Kante, hailing his ability to score from long range, which isn’t something the Frenchman did very often.

What Caicedo can learn from Makelele and Kante
From Makelele, Caicedo must master the art of the invisible contribution, the ability to extinguish fires before they start by simply occupying the right space. While Caicedo often relies on his explosive recovery speed to track back, Makelele’s legacy was built on anticipation.
Conversely, Kante’s influence should guide Caicedo’s transition from a defensive anchor to a box-to-box facilitator. He was more than a spoiler; he was great in transition and turned ball recoveries into immediate counter-attacks.
If he can combine Makelele’s intelligence with Kante’s selfless engine, Caicedo could go on to surpass the duo.
