The Cleveland Browns finished off the opening weekdays of free agency with one more signing.
On Friday night, they landed defensive tackle Kalia Davis in free agency from the San Francisco 49ers.
The deal, reported by NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, is for one year and up to $3 million.
On paper, it seems like a solid get. Davis started all 17 games a season ago for San Francisco.
"Browns add some depth on the defensive line with the signing of Kalia Davis. 27 years old," writes ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi. "Sixth-round pick in 2022. Started all 17 games last season Only 1.5 career sacks but he’s played the run well. He had a run stop win rate in 2025 that was 19th among all defensive linemen, just behind Mason Graham."

As Oyefusi references there, the heart of the Browns' defensive line future is Mason Graham, who will be in his second year out of Michigan in 2026 after being the No. 5 overall pick a year ago.
But it takes more than one guy to win on the defensive line, and adding some depth in Davis is a solid move.
"There’s a clear scheme fit here, as he played under Robert Saleh last season," Oyefusi writes. "Could be good depth behind Maliek Collins. Cleveland’s run defense dropped off a bit after his season-ending quad injury."
Cleveland is heading into an important season. Having moved on from Kevin Stefanski, Todd Monken takes the helm, and the Browns will want to show progress.
Any little signing helps, especially a guy who started a lot of games for a winning team last season.
