This won’t be the first time Dowdle has had a personal vendetta against a former squad. Famously, he told the Dallas Cowboys to “buckle up” ahead of their Week 6 clash in the 2025 season — and boy, did he deliver. The running back torched his old team for 183 rushing yards, added 56 receiving yards, and punched in a touchdown, powering the Panthers to a 30-27 victory.

Fans haven’t exactly welcomed Dowdle’s message with open arms. Under the handle “Endzone Panthers,” one fan fired off on X (formerly Twitter):
“Ngl, I think Dowdle has a serious attitude issue. ‘Circling’ the game against us on his calendar, like we didn’t just save your career, bro, and let you get paid. We literally did everything for you. See you next season, Rico.”
The sentiment is clear — some Panthers faithful aren’t ready to forgive or forget. Dowdle’s bold words have definitely stirred the pot ahead of next season’s showdown.
