Chelsea now know the price range for a player they are reportedly interested in.
Chelsea are said to have been informed of the price they will need to pay if they want to get their hands on a forward they are reportedly interest in. The Blues have an interesting summer transfer window ahead as they look to take the step up to being title contenders next season.
But big questions remain over the club’s recruitment strategy after a couple of years of signing young players with big potential. Many of those signings are now panning out, but Chelsea now find themselves at a very different stage.
Chelsea now need to make the decision of whether they want to be a top four club making profits on players or a title contender that is willing to spend to sign a polished player they are likely to end up losing money on.
Most feel as though Chelsea need at least two players who fit into the latter category, with a top-class centre-back needed, while there are questions over the goalkeeper position and having proper competition for Joao Pedro up top.
But one of the latest rumours suggests Chelsea want to sign another young player in Koln forward Said El Mala, a 19-year-old winger who has 8 goals and 4 assists in 27 appearances across all competitions this season.
Manchester United are also said to be interested in the up and coming attacker, and CaughtOffside say Koln are now looking for around £45million to £55million to sell this summer.
That would be an affordable deal for Chelsea, but the question will be whether they need a more proven option, and where El Mala fits into that, especially with significant fees required to strengthen other positions.
