His previous deal was due to expire in 2028, but James admitted that he didn’t have to think much about the decision to commit his future to his boyhood club.
Rosenior was visibly thrilled with the decision and believed that Chelsea had tied down the best right back in world football.
_“I cannot stop smiling,”_ admitted Rosenior.
_“We have secured the best player in world football in his position,_
_“He has had many opportunities to leave this magnificent club, and the good thing is not just the size and stature of the club that he has come through from a very young age, but it is the belief and confidence in what we are doing here, and where we want to go._
_“We have had many conversations about it, so for him to sign a new deal and put his faith in us is a massive step.”_
Rosenior was asked why he believed James was the best right back in the world, to which he jokingly asked why he had to explain that.
_“Do I have to explain that when you see him play?_
_“I do not want to embarrass him, but he is top._
_“When you meet Reece, you see him from afar, and you admire him. He can play many different positions technically, score goals, defend, and has brilliant tactical understanding._
_“The thing that impresses me most about him is his humility, and him as a person. You realise why he is having, and will go on to have the career he is having._
_“He will be the captain of Chelsea for as long as I am here. He will be my leader, so for me, it has been a really good two and a half months with him, and I now understand a lot more about the player he is._
_“He is hopefully going to go on to have a really successful career here._”
