The Vikings released center Zeke Correll after he missed the entire 2025 campaign with an ankle injury
The Minnesota Vikings have spent the early part of the offseason dealing with some salary cap issues. While that hasn’t prevented them from making moves, with the most important of the bunch seeing the team sign former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray in free agency, the front office has been forced to continue looking for unique ways to revamp its roster.
For the most part, the Vikings have begun the offseason by retooling their roster around the edges. That has involved releasing players who simply aren’t a part of the team’s future plans, and on Friday, that led to one of their rookies, center Zeke Correll, getting dealt a tough update on his status with Minnesota.
Vikings Release Center Zeke Correll
Correll spent five years in college, the first four of which he spent with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. In the quest to find more playing time, Correll transferred to the NC State Wolfpack for the 2024 campaign, and he ended up starting all 13 games for them at center, earning a spot on the All-ACC Third Team.
It wasn’t much of a surprise when Correll went undrafted in the 2025 draft, but he quickly latched on with the Vikings during training camp. Correll enjoyed a strong start to the summer, but everything came crashing down for him when he suffered a broken ankle in the team’s preseason opener. Correll would be forced to miss the entire campaign, and while he stuck around with Minnesota, losing all that time on the field was obviously a big blow.
Entering the offseason, the Vikings knew they needed to make a call on Correll’s future with the team. While Minnesota has tweaked its offensive line, it won’t feature Correll for the time being. That’s because, on Friday night, the front office opted to waive Correll, giving him an opportunity to latch on with another team in free agency before the start of the 2026 campaign.
“Vikings waived Zeke Correll,” Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reported in a post on X.
Vikings Have Some Work to Do Along Their Offensive Line

Correll has potential, but the Vikings simply don’t have an opportunity for him right now, even when considering their center from 2025, Ryan Kelly, recently opted to retire. Minnesota has to find a proper replacement for him, but turning to an unproven player simply doesn’t make sense. The Vikings want to find their way back to the playoffs in 2026, so they can’t afford to take unnecessary risks along their offensive line.
In the future, the Vikings could potentially bring Correll back to town if they need some extra depth along their offensive line. Given the timing of this move, though, it seems like Correll will find his way to another team. There’s no doubt the talented young center has potential, but he wasn’t going to receive the sort of opportunities he was looking for in Minnesota, which is why the team ultimately decided to move on from him.
