Washington Wizards Announce Trae Young Status For Celtics Game

On Saturday evening, the Washington Wizards will play the Celtics in Boston.

The Wizards are coming off a 136-131 loss to the Orlando Magic in Florida.

Trae Young finished with 15 points, three rebounds and six assists while shooting 5/7 from the field and 2/4 from three-point range in 21 minutes of playing time.

For Saturday’s game, the Wizards will have Young available, as he is not on the team’s injury report.

Young is averaging 14.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 6.7 assists per contest while shooting 59.1% from the field and 42.9% from three-point range in his first three games with Washington.

The former Oklahoma star was traded to the Wizards after part of eight seasons with the Atlanta Hawks.

ESPN’s Shams Charania wrote (on January 7): “The Atlanta Hawks are trading four-time NBA All-Star Trae Young to the Washington Wizards for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert, sources tell ESPN.”

Young had an incredible tenure with the Hawks where he made four All-Star Games in eight years.

He has career averages of 25.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 9.8 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 43.3% from the field and 35.2% from three-point range in 496 games.

During the 2021 season, Young led the Hawks to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time in six years.

The NBA wrote: “Jaylen Brown this season: ▪️ 28.4 PPG (career high) ▪️ 7.1 RPG (career high) ▪️ 5.2 APG (career high) The East #2 Celtics face Trae Young and the Wizards at 6pm/et on NBA TV!”

The Wizards come into the day as the 14th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 16-49 record in 65 games.

They are in the middle of a 10-game losing streak.

Following Boston, the Wizards will return home to host the Golden State Warriors on Monday.
