Broncos trade idea finally lands outside help for Bo Nix in Pro Bowl RB with Sean Payton ties

The Denver Broncos have not made a single outside addition through the first few days of the 2026 NLF offseason. Every other team has already done so.

While the Broncos haven't made outside moves, they have brought back their entire offensive supporting cast from 2025. J.K. Dobbins, Jaleel McLaughlin, and their veteran tight ends are all back. But the Broncos still need a playmaker.

And while it might not be the ideal fit, Moe Moton of Bleacher Report proposed a trade idea that would have the Broncos finally land outside help for Bo Nix in the form of New Orleans Saints Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara.

Broncos trade idea lands Alvin Kamara

"This would be a surprising move because Kamara would join a crowded backfield in Denver," Moton writes, "and his skill set overlaps with Harvey's, but he may trust that Payton will find ways to get him the ball."

Adding Kamara likely won't be expensive in a trade, but there is a big question of whether he would be willing to play for a team other than the Saints.

Kamara has mentioned before that he would retire if he weren't on the Saints. But if there were one team to convince him to give it one more go, it would be the Broncos, thanks to Payton and their Super Bowl odds.

New Orleans won't shy away from a trade, as they've committed a lot of money to Travis Etienne Jr. to be their new starting running back.

It won't cost the Broncos much to acquire Kamara, and while the running back room would be very crowded with his addition, with RJ Harvey and Dobbins fighting for work alongside Kamara, it could form a three-headed RB trio that could work great.

Kamara is a five-time Pro Bowler, but this past season, he played in just 11 games and ran for 471 yards and one touchdown with 186 receiving yards and no touchdowns on 33 receptions.

He's a dual-threat running back, but at 30 years old, he might not be in as great of shape as he was in the early goings of his career.

However, with the Saints looking to get younger and the Broncos trying to capitalize on the now, a Kamara-to-Broncos trade does make some sense.

The only question would be what the cost is to add Kamara, and whether the nine-year veteran would be willing to play for a team other than the Saints.
