Following a loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, March 14, the Golden State Warriors received some clarity on one of their key injuries from the outing.
During the first quarter of the matchup, the Warriors saw their veteran big man, Al Horford, leave to get his calf checked out. Shortly after, Horford was ruled out for the remainder of the game due to a calf strain.
He checked out after just four minutes of action. The veteran went 1-3 from the field to produce three points, while coming down with one rebound during that time.
The Warriors finished the night with a 127-117 loss. After the game, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr addressed Horford’s status.
“With Al and the calf strain, I have no idea how long Al will be out,” Kerr told reporters. “With a calf, we’re not going to rush him back.”

The Warriors are going to roll without Horford on Sunday, March 15.
According to the team’s injury report, Horford is out, leaving his status beyond Sunday in question.

Over the offseason, Horford signed with the Warriors after a second stint with the Boston Celtics. He hoped to join a championship contender as a reserve, but ended up in a situation where the Warriors are struggling to stay healthy enough to compete at the highest level.
In 43 appearances, Horford has started 12 games for the Warriors. He has posted averages of 8.3 points (42% FG, 36% 3PT), 5.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.
While Horford has been productive for the undermanned Warriors, he gets hit with availability issues himself. After the Knicks matchup, the next time Horford could see the floor is on Monday, March 16, against the Washington Wizards.
For now, Horford’s availability for that game is up in the air.
