Bucks This Season Amid Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Rumors

Milwaukee has lost seven of its last eight games. While there was previous hope that the team would make a run to the playoffs after they got Antetokounmpo back from his second calf strain of the season, so far, thathasn’t been the case.

The Bucks are currently 27-38 and sit 11th in the Eastern Conference standings, both outside the playoff and play-in tournament picture.

As their struggles continue, trade rumors surrounding Antetokounmpo have only heated up. While he re-committed to the team at the trade deadline, stating he would never ask tobe moved from the team, the two-time Finals MVP remains linked to several teams, including the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers.

A few months ago, there were also rumorsabout the Hawksbeing interested in the Greek superstar; however, that speculation can nowbe put tobed, according to a new report.

“According toJake Fischer of The Stein Line, the Hawks have ‘always viewed the notion‘of trading forward Jalen Johnson as part of a package for Antetokounmpo as a ‘non-starter,’“ Mike Chiari of Bleacher Report wrote. “Fischer noted that the Hawks are a “natural”trade partner for Giannis since they could own theBucks’ 2026 and 2027 first-round picks depending on what conditionsare met.”

Despite the level of interest Atlanta had in Antetokounmpo previously, the team does not appear willing to move Johnson, their new star, for the 2021 Finals MVP.

In 59 games this season, Johnson is averaging 22.9 points, 10.4 rebounds, and eight assists, while a consistent triple-double threat in what has been a breakout year for the 24-year-old.

As for Antetokounmpo, whois set to miss the game against the Hawks, he is averaging 27.5 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 5.4 assists on 62.8% shooting in 35 games, ashis 2025-26 campaign has been marred by injuries and trade rumors.

Antetokounmpo’s future in Milwaukee is by no means set in stone, and most recently, he was linked to the Warriors in trade rumors, according to NBA insider Marc Spears.

“Steph knows thatthey’re gonna try to do everything in their power to get somebody big,”Spears said on the Willard and Dibs radio show. “It’s interestingwe’re in [Splash] because I went to StephCurry’s All-Star party. There was only one non-Warrior that came: Giannis.”

“Giannis came. And I thought that was interesting that Giannis would come becausehe’s not a guy that shakes hands, kiss babies, like camaraderie, ‘Let’s go to dinner the night before (the All-Star Game),’and Giannis came to the party, and hung out…That tells me he and Steph have a relationship.”

For now, Antetokounmpo remains on the Bucks, but trade rumors surrounding the star will only continue until he either asks to be moved or signs a new deal in Milwaukee.
