Paul Pierce reveals who should win Coach of the Year award

Paul Pierce believes Joe Mazzulla deserves serious Coach of the Year consideration after guiding the Boston Celtics through injuries and lineup changes. Despite missing Jayson Tatum early in the season, Boston has stayed near the top of the Eastern Conference behind a strong year from Jaylen Brown and key contributions from role players.

The Boston Celtics continue to find success this season despite lineup challenges, and franchise legend Paul Pierce believes head coach Joe Mazzulla deserves major recognition for the job he has done.

Speaking about Boston's season, Pierce made it clear that he views Mazzulla as the clear frontrunner for Coach of the Year.

"I got to believe that coach Joe Mazzulla is hand down the coach of the year," he said on No Fouls Given podcast. "Look who's out there on the court, the supporting cast, and not this not a knock on them but like, Payton Pritchard is the only mainstay… and then you out here with Scheierman and Garza contributing."

Boston has dealt with roster changes and injuries, including starting the season without star forward Jayson Tatum. During that stretch, Jaylen Brown stepped into a larger role and carried much of the offensive load.

Brown has been one of the league's most productive players this season. In 59 games, he is averaging 28.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.2 assists while shooting 47.9 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from three point range.

Despite the challenges, the Celtics remain near the top of the standings with a 43-23 record, currently sitting second in the Eastern Conference.
