The Seahawks have reached an agreement on a one-year deal to bring back cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles, a source confirmed to The Seattle Times Saturday.
Jean-Charles spent the 2025 season on Seattle’s practice squad without playing in a game. He was not re-signed to a futures deal following the season and became a free agent.
Jean-Charles has played in 37 NFL games in a career that dates to 2021 and made two starts with the Saints in 2024.
He’ll add depth to a cornerback spot that continues to need some.
The 5-foot-10, 184-pound Jean-Charles becomes the fourth corner on Seattle’s roster along with Devon Witherspoon, Josh Jobe and Nehemiah Pritchett.
Riq Woolen signed with the Eagles as a free agent last week and Seattle released Tyler Hall, who spent the last two months of last season on the practice squad.
Jean-Charles, who initially entered the league as a fifth-round pick of the Packers in 2021 out of Appalachian State, played mostly wide cornerback with the Saints and signed with the Seahawks on a one-year deal last spring and was expected to make a run at a 53-man roster spot.
But an injury early in training camp meant he missed all three preseason games and was released at the cutdown to 53 and then re-signed to the practice squad.
Jean-Charles also has 451 special teams snaps in his career.
