Patrick Mahomes’ Father Accidentally Promotes Haters Dragging His Repeated DWIs and Using Son’s …

Patrick Mahomes seems to be having a tough time recently, after a really disappointing season. The Kansas City Chiefs had a 6-11 record in the regular season and missed the playoffs, the first time they did so since 2014. It was one of their worst seasons in recent history.

While other players are enjoying the offseason, Mahomes is having some family trouble. His father has now caused yet another controversy.

Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of the Chiefs quarterback, is known for having a history of driving while intoxicated (DWI) offenses. These have drawn significant negative media attention upon his son, due to his widespread fame.

A recent podcast by Ryan Hoppe on Hoppe Radio spoke about his repeated DWI offenses and the alleged leniency shown to him due to his son’s prominence. In the podcast, Hoppe is seen saying, “I can’t stand Patrick Mahomes’s loser father. I try not to throw the word loser around because sometimes it can be kind of mean, but the dude’s a loser. All that dude does is drink and drive, and he gets away with it because of his son’s name. Not because of his own name.”

Mahomes Sr. accidentally boosted the views of the podcast by accepting a collaborator invite on an Instagram reel of that criticism. Many saw it and it led to the reel gaining more traction. He later removed it, which means that he accepted the invite mistakenly.

Mahomes Sr. was most recently arrested for allegedly violating probation terms, and spent over a month in jail. A judge later gave him even harsher conditions than before. His history with such offenses is well-documented.

Mahomes Sr. was first convicted of a DWI in Texas in 2018-19, which resulted in a sentence of 40 days in jail served on weekends. His most prominent incident happened in February 2024, days before Super Bowl LVIII which his son and the Chiefs participated in. He was arrested in Tyler, Texas, following a traffic stop where his blood alcohol content registered 0.23, which was three times the legal limit.

During this incident, [bodycam footage](https://x.com/NFL_DovKleiman/status/1849098125744459948?s=20) showed that he was trying to use his son’s name to evade the arrest. He pleaded guilty in August 2024 to driving while intoxicated. This was a massive controversy at the time, and he was given a serious punishment which involved a five-year probation sentence alongside other requirements, and he only had to serve 10 days in jail.

Patrick Mahomes will have to move on from the situation, and look forward to the 2026 NFL season.
