Your Depot After Dark for March 14.

ALEJANDRO VILLANUEVA CLIMBS MT. KILIMANJARO

In his post-playing days, former Pittsburgh Steelers left tackle Alejandro Villanueva has been one of the most interesting men in the world. He lost a ton of weight, as most former NFL linemen do, moved to Florida and has take up fishing.

He’s also traveled all over the world, too, and has checked off a major accomplishment in the process, too. Former NFL defensive end Chris Long, who hosted the latest episode of his Green Light Podcast, stated that Villanueva joined him and his crew to hike Mt. Kilimanjaro this year.

According to Long, Villanueva said it was the hardest thing he’s ever done, which is telling, considering Villanueva’s background as a former Army Ranger and member of the 10th Mountain Division.

ESEZI OTOMEWO’S CONTRACT DETAILS

The Steelers re-signed veteran defensive lineman Esezi Otomewo earlier in the week, bringing him back on a one-year deal after he spent the 2025 season with the Black and Gold. It was a good depth move for the Steelers after Otomewo played 196 snaps last season.

It was a pretty cheap deal, too. According to contract details from NFL Insider Aaron Wilson, Otomewo’s salary is $1.572 million in 2026.

Otomewo received a $187,500 signing bonus in the move to re-sign with the Steelers. He has a chance to make it to training camp and compete for a roster spot once again, and he’ll do so at an affordable price for the Steelers.

BENGALS SIGN VETERAN QB

Shortly after non-tendering restricted free agent backup quarterback Jake Browning and ultimately losing him to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Cincinnati Bengals pivoted at the position and added a veteran to back up star quarterback Joe Burrow.

The Bengals announced the signing of veteran Josh Johnson Saturday.

Johnson returns to Cincinnati after spending the 2025 season with the Washington Commanders. Previously, Johnson spent parts of the 2013 season with the Bengals, appearing in two games. Last season with the Commanders, Johnson appeared in five games, starting two while going 1-1. He threw for 372 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions last season, adding another 55 rushing yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.
