Trevoh Chalobah knows there is a problem at Chelsea starting to'kick in'under Liam Rosenior

Liam Rosenior’s stint as Chelsea manager has been up and down since his arrival and on Saturday, the Blues manager suffered arguably his worst defeat – and Trevoh Chalobah hinted at a reason why.

Before Saturday’s loss to Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge, Rosenior had suffered four losses as Blues manager. Three to Arsenal, one to PSG in the week. The 1-0 loss at home to Newcastle was a poor one.

But even more worryingly for Chelsea fans, Rosenior and the club’s chances of a top-five finish, that is now just one Premier League win in five. By the end of the weekend, Chelsea are likely to sit in sixth.

Rosenior started well as Chelsea manager, with optimism flowing. But in the space of two games, any hope Rosenior had of a successful season is over. Trevoh Chalobah has suggested a possible reason why.

Trevoh Chalobah suggests fatigue could be hampering Chelsea

In little over two months, Chelsea have clocked up 17 matches in all competitions under Rosenior. That’s a game every three or four days since Rosenior arrived, over the course of a two-month period as manager.

It has been relentless as Chelsea fought on all four fronts following Rosenior’s arrival, and still remain very active in three. Speaking after Anthony Gordon scored the only goal of the game, Chalobah said:

“There are a lot of games in this period. We just have to play game by game. We put a lot into the Champions League game. Maybe we can say fatigue is kicking in, but we have to focus on the next game.

“This is what we’re playing for. We want to be in the Champions League and competing in the best competition. Tuesday [against Paris St-German] is going to be really important, and the league is as well.”

A break is coming, but Chelsea desperately need two wins

For the first time in Rosenior’s stint, that is two straight defeats. The Chelsea manager has now got to rally his troops, not just to get Chelsea back on track, but to save Chelsea’s season and in turn, save his job.

The pressure is building on Liam Rosenior 😬

We all know Todd Boehly is trigger-happy when it comes to managers. Limping out of the Champions League and failing to qualify for next season’s version of the competition could see Rosenior lose his job.

Even if Chelsea don’t surpass PSG, which seems incredibly likely, they have to put in a performance fans can be proud of. Then it is Everton, a must-win game in the race for a place in the Champions League.

Two crucial games that can make or break Chelsea’s season and in turn, prove to be whether Rosenior gets to remain as Chelsea manager going into the new season. Two wins from two are absolutely key.
