Luka Doncic explains game-winner vs. Nuggets, thanks Lakers fans

Luka Doncic said he trusted his signature left-handed step-back when he saw the double-team coming, which led to the game-winning jumper that lifted the Los Angeles Lakers past the Denver Nuggets.

Luka Doncic hit a baseline jumper with 0.5 seconds left, lifting the host Los Angeles Lakers to a 127-125 overtime win over the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night.

Doncic finished with 30 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds, recording his 11th triple-double of the season and the first game-winner as a Laker.

With their fifth straight victory, Los Angeles also clinched the season series against Denver.

"I just saw the double coming, so I went to my left hand, to my left step back. I did [that] a couple of times throughout my career, so just trust the shot," Luka explained his game-winner.

"Just a big-time shot by a f**king generational player," LeBron James said. "We wanted the last shot. We wanted to put the ball in our guy's hands. So, it's going to be just the first of many game winners like that for him and in a Lakers uniform."

Luka also praised the fans at Crypto.com Arena.

"I felt like it was the best atmosphere since I'm the Laker," he stated. "The whole crowd was in, and it was so special to witness that. Hopefully, it's more times, but you know, I had goosebumps a little bit. It was amazing to see and to live that moment."

The Lakers improved to 42-25 and moved into third place in the Western Conference.
