Kawhi Leonard was diagnosed with a left ankle sprain after twisting it and leaving the fourth quarter of the Clippers' 118-109 loss to the Kings on Saturday.
The Los Angeles Clippers lost 118-109 to the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night, but the defeat wasn't their only concern. They also lost star forward Kawhi Leonard to an injury.
Leonard suffered the injury during the fourth quarter and had to leave the game with 9:27 remaining.
He twisted his left ankle and limped to the locker room, and the team later diagnosed him with a sprained ankle. He did not return.
The Clippers clearly felt his absence down the stretch, getting outscored 34-26 in the final period.
Before exiting, Leonard delivered a strong performance. He finished with 31 points, six rebounds, and two steals in nearly 26 minutes of action.
In late February, Leonard acknowledged he had been dealing with a left ankle issue this season, describing it as "just been a lingering injury."
With the loss, Los Angeles fell to 33-32 on the season and currently holds the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings.
The LA Clippers will look to bounce back when they host the San Antonio Spurs on Monday.
