Chelsea are said to be interested in a proven Premier League attacker this summer.

Chelsea are said to be interested in one of the most in-form Premier League strikers ahead of the summer. The Blues have an interesting summer window ahead of them, likely needing to add some polished players ahead of next season.

Whether the Blues board will allow that by pivoting from their current recruitment strategy remains to be seen, but they need to if they want this team to become title candidates.

The Chelsea midfield looks set, or close to it, but there are question marks over Robert Sanchez in goal. Centre-back is arguably the biggest area of need, at least for a top player, and then the striker position could do with better competition.

Liam Delap has struggled to impress in his first year at the club, and Rosenior may well want a top option to compete with Joao Pedro. And according to the latest reports, Chelsea could turn to a Brazilian tandem by snapping up another Brazilian forward.

ESPN Brazil claim Chelsea are interested in signing Brentford forward Igor Thiago, who has been in superb form this season, helping the Bees continue to impress even in the absence of Bryan Mbemo and Yann Wissa, who were sold in the summer.

Thiago is the second top scorer in the Premier League with 18 goals, with only Erling Haaland - with 22 - outscoring him so far. It’s claimed Chelsea have already enquired about Thiago, and the price of a deal has already emerged.

It’s claimed Brentford will not sell the 24-year-old for less than £60million, which seems like a reasonable asking price for a proven Premier League goalscorer who is still young.

The deal could be ideal for Chelsea given they would be adding a polished and proven option while also not straying far from their recruitment strategy of signing a player who is an at an age that he can continue to develop and grow further in value.
