The Kansas City Chiefs need an edge-rusher and star defensive tackle Chris Jones has ideas on who that player should be.

Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports on Saturday, March 14 suggested eight-time Pro Bowl defensive end and 15-year NFL veteran Cameron Jordan as a “perfect fit” for Kansas City after Jones posted a two-word message to social media during the middle of last week that said simply: “Cam Jordan.”

Jordan has recorded 763 tackles, 175 tackles for loss and 132 sacks in his 243 career games. Those 132 sacks are the most in franchise history. Jordan, who turns 37 this summer, is still a productive player, as he recorded 10.5 sacks, 15 QB hits and 15 tackles for loss in 2025.

The Chiefs have lost plenty on the defensive side of the ball this offseason, including Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson, Bryan Cook, Leo Chenal, Charles Omenihu and Derrick Nnadi. Kansas City could score Jordan on a cheap deal as the Chiefs look to rebound in 2026.

Cameron Jordan’s Market Value Equals Bargain for Chiefs

Jordan’s market value is $6.8 million on a new one-year deal, per Spotrac. For context, that is far less than half of what Khalil Mack got to return to the Los Angeles Chargers for one season.

Mack pulled in $18 million from the Chiefs’ AFC West Division rival after proving less healthy, and thereby less productive, than Jordan in 2025. Mack, 35 years old, is less than two years younger than Jordan.

The value play with Jordan is clear for the Chiefs if they are willing to make a short-term move to address their obvious deficiency off the edge.

Chiefs Could Look for Edge-Rusher in First Round of Upcoming NFL Draft

Kansas City has several needs this offseason, even after inking running back Kenneth Walker III to a $43 million deal in free agency and bringing back tight end Travis Kelce on a one-year contract.

The Chiefs own two picks in the first round at Nos. 9 and 29, as well as pick No. 40 in the second round. Kansas City could look for an edge-rusher with one of those three selections.

There is a top tier of three pass-rushers in this year’s draft class, though Arvell Reese and David Bailey are likely to come off the board inside the top five. An elite option in Rueben Bain Jr. of Miami could be in play with the 9th pick, and that could change the Chiefs’ approach to the remainder of the offseason.

“Bain is a tenacious and powerful player who overcomes his lack of length with brute force at the point of attack. He had 9.5 sacks, 18.5 tackles for loss and 71 pressures in 2025,” Field Yates of ESPN wrote on March 12 when predicting that the Cincinnati Bengals will select Bain with the 10th pick next month.

Yates also projected that Kansas City will draft offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa to replace former starter Jawaan Taylor, who the Chiefs released ahead of free agency in the interest of saving $20 million against the salary cap.
