Ashley Williams singles out poor Everton star vs Arsenal, he's set to leave in the summer

Everton were well worth a point against Arsenal, but ultimately, they conceded two late goals at the Emirates Stadium.

David Moyes was proud of his side’s performance, and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was very complimentary of the visitors.

James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam were excellent in the middle of the park, and interestingly, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall covered the most mileage of any player on the pitch.

How have we come away from that with nothing? 😫

Match of the Day pundit Ashley Williams singled out one Everton player in his analysis, as it was a costly error that allowed the deadlock to be broken by Viktor Gyokeres in the 89th minute.

Ashley Williams singles out Vitalii Mykolenko in Everton’s defeat to Arsenal

Williams was critical of Vitalii Mykolenko, as the Toffees left-back lost his marker Piero Hincapie at the back post before Gyokeres tapped home.

“They (Everton) nearly executed the perfect away plan again under David Moyes. They did ever so well,” the former Toffees centre-back stated.

“Right up to the 88th minute when it was probably the only time they switched off. Arsenal are just on the attack, Mykolenko gets a good tackle but then he thinks his job is done.

“I don’t know if he’s expecting the long throw-in? But he switched off, they take a quick throw-in, great ball in from Dowman, Hincapie at the back stick and then like all good strikers he’s (Gyokeres) in the right place.”

Mykolenko’s Sofascore statistics don’t make for good reading at all, as he gave the ball away a whopping 20 times.

Vitalii Mykolenko stats vs Arsenal

The 26-year-old seems to be coming to the end of his career on Merseyside, as he is out of contract at the end of the season.

So, as it stands, Mykolenko is due to leave on a free transfer after over four years at the club.

There were talks that he could renew his contract in the autumn, but it’s gone very quiet since then.

Arsenal left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly has been linked to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
