Opinion: Everton must press ahead with deal to sign UCL striker after Beto and Barry's Arsenal…

Everton produced a really strong away performance against Arsenal yesterday, but they still left without a point.

Toffees fans agreed the strikers were at fault for the defeat, as Thierno Barry and Beto offered very little up front once again.

The Everton duo have scored a combined 10 Premier League goals this term, which is quite simply not good enough.

David Moyes has urged Barry and Beto to improve publicly, but it’s clear they’re just not up to the level.

So, with that said, it’s now clearer than ever that Everton must sign a new centre-forward in the summer.

They should already be pressing ahead with talks to sign Alexander Sorloth.

It has been reported that Everton are exploring a deal to sign Sorloth ahead of the summer transfer window.

Moyes and his chiefs should already be looking to strike an agreement on the player’s side, as he’d be perfect for his system.

Sorloth, who has netted 171 goals across his career, is a physically imposing number nine, but unlike Barry and Beto, his technical ability is exceptional.

The Norway international has a cultured left foot and is proficient at linking the play, which the aforementioned duo really struggle with.

He’s netted a commendable 16 goals for Atleti this term, which shows he can handle the pressure of playing at a big club.

Erling Haaland is a big admirer of Sorloth, as they often play together in the national team.

If Everton can get a deal in place before the window opens, it’ll allow them to find a suitor for Barry or Beto.

Beto was linked with a move to Fenerbahce in January, but the Turkish giants walked away when the Toffees demanded £17m for his signature.
