Aside from the disaster that has been Chelsea’s week on the pitch, preparation for the summer window continues and the latest name to be linked with the Blues is Lens star Mamadou Sangare.
If the last week is anything to go by, Chelsea need some reinforcements. Some steel all over the pitch and certainly, players with experience. Not just some young players that Liam Rosenior hopes will come good.
BlueCo are willing to adopt their transfer strategy. Last summer, they signed the likes of Liam Delap, Jorrel Hato, Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens. Big fees, but ultimately, players that are still inexperienced.
Who do you prefer – Liam Rosenior or Enzo Maresca?
Let us know why in the comments!
This Chelsea side is crying out for leadership, for players a decade older than the likes of Delap and Hato to come in and help nurture the youngsters while looking after a dressing room. Is Sangare that man?
Chelsea have a plan in place for Lens star Mamadou Sangare
According to a report from Africa Foot, Chelsea have made it clear to Lens that they want to sign Sangare this summer. It is believed Chelsea would have to splash a fee of £39m to lure the Mali star to London.

However, Sangare would not actually join Chelsea until the summer of 2027. Indeed, Chelsea’s plan is to send Sangare back on loan to Lens for the 2026-27 season, which is likely to be favourable for Lens.
But Chelsea are not the only club interested in landing Sangare in the coming months. Indeed, a whole host of Premier League clubs are after the Mali ace – including Man United, Tottenham and West Ham.
The Malian connection at Chelsea, but Sangare would be the first
Interestingly, Chelsea have never had a Mali international play for the club. However, N’Golo Kante has Malian parents, but he opted to play for France at National Team level. Kurt Zouma had Malian descent.

So does current defender Mamadou Sarr. If Chelsea signed Sangare and he did enough to break into first-team proceedings under Liam Rosenior or whoever is in charge come 2027, he would be the first.
Certainly, Chelsea need midfielders despite the return of Dario Essugo and Romeo Lavia from injury. There is a severe lack of quality, with Chelsea and Rosenior yet to find a permanent partner for Moises Caicedo.
