Running back Jeremiyah Love
Jeremiyah Loves adds fuel to speculation that the Giants could draft him at No. 5 overall.
In a little over a month, the New York Giants will be on the clock with the fifth overall pick in the NFL Draft. Ahead of this major decision, one name on their radar is adding fuel to the fire of recent speculation.
As they continue to build out their young core, the Giants could go multiple different routes with their top five pick. In recent weeks, a prospect who has regularly been connected to them is Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love. The buzz around him coming off the board at No. 5 has reached new highs following him posting an Instagram story at the Giants’ facility.

NY picks No. 5 overall.
Love is fresh off a dominant junior season at Notre Dame that saw him finish in the top three in Heisman voting. Across 12 games, he racked up just under 1,700 scrimmage yards to go along with 21 touchdowns.
In light of him being at the Giants’ facility, the possibility of Love being the guy for New York has certainly grown. Drafting him would give the roster a pair of dynamic backfield threats for the foreseeable future alongside previous rookie standout Cam Skattebo.
Giants Insider Speculates on New York Pursuing Jeremiyah Love
It’s still very early in the process, but people in and around the league are already shifting their focus to the draft. During a recent mailbag for SNY, insider Connor Hughes was asked about the idea of the Giants taking Love.
Seeing that they had their sights set on a high-profile backfield option in free agency, he feels there’s a good chance they walk out on draft night with the Notre Dame standout.
“Which brings up Jeremiyah Love. The Giants pursued Kenneth Walker III but couldn’t get a deal done because the price got too high. If the Giants were willing to pay a running back close to $12 million annually, why wouldn’t they draft one fifth overall? One with even greater physical gifts than Walker,” Hughes wrote. “One other minor note: most mock drafts heading into free agency had the Chiefs selecting Love at No. 9. The Chiefs then signed Walker instead. Did they know the running back had no shot of getting to them? Maybe.”
At this stage in the draft process, Love is widely believed to be selected in the top ten. Only time will tell if the Giants decide to slightly reach in an effort to bolster their young and exciting offense.
Kay Adams Advocates for Giants Targeting Jeremiyah Love in the NFL Draft
Hughes is not the only one open to the possibility of the Giants locking in on Love with the fifth pick. During her “Up & Adams” show on March 12th, Kay Adams weighed in on the latest speculation. She too thinks New York should pursue the Fighting Irish star after missing out on landing the reigning Super Bowl MVP in free agency.
“Shall I hypothesize,” Adams said. “Jeremiyah Love. Where they picking? Five? Yeah. Is that too high? I’m going to say Jeremiyah Love very much in play for them.”
