Former NBA Champion Glen Davis Released From Prison

Former NBA champion Glen "Big Baby" Davis, best known for his time with the Boston Celtics, is out of prison.

Davis, 40, was in prison for 17 months. Davis had been sentenced to 40 months in prison for his part in attempting to defraud a health care benefits plan. Davis is officially out of prison now, though.

The former NBA champion was released on Thursday.

"He used his time productively while serving his sentence and took many programs during that time," his attorney, Brendan White, toldĀ The Athletic. "He's ready to become a productive member of society again."

Davis, meanwhile, confirmed that he is out.

"They tried to hold me down. You know what I'm saying? But I'm back, man. I'm back, baby."

The former Boston Celtics star, who played in the league from 2007-15, was convinced in November of 2023.

Davis was one of 20 people charged and sentenced for their roles in a conspiracy that involved filing fraudulent medical claims with the NBA Players' Health and Welfare Benefit Plan.

The former NBA star was sentenced to 40 months and upon his release, was set to be supervised for three years.

Davis has to pay $80,000 in restitution and also attend a financial management class and undergo mandatory drug treatment.
