The New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Denver Broncos have been linked to a veteran receiver on the free agency market.
With Deebo Samuel still on the free agency market, Sportsnaut's Jhelum Mehta believes the Patriots, 49ers, Chiefs, and Broncos should look into signing the 30-year-old.
Samuel is no longer an elite receiver, as he has lost some of his burst and explosiveness that made him an All-Pro player in 2021.
However, the South Carolina product can still be a productive pass-catcher, tallying 72 receptions for 727 yards and four touchdowns in 16 games with the Washington Commanders in 2025.
New England and San Francisco added to their receiver rooms in free agency, as the Patriots signed Romeo Doubs, while the 49ers inked a deal with Mike Evans. However, Samuel would still be a solid addition for both squads as a potential No. 2 receiver.
Obviously, a reunion in San Francisco would make a ton of sense for Samuel, the place where he established himself as one of the most dynamic playmakers in the sport.
Kansas City and Denver don't have pressing needs at receiver, but Samuel would step in as an immediate starter in both offenses. Andy Reid would be the perfect coach to get the most out of Samuel's skillset, as would Sean Payton with the Broncos.
Samuel has been on a decline in recent years, but he's still a starting-caliber receiver who could be a difference-maker. Though he has yet to find a home in free agency, it's only a matter of time till the former Pro Bowler finds his next opportunity.
