Giants tight end Isaiah Likely gives high praise to quarterback Jaxson Dart.
During the first week of free agency, the New York Giants have made an array of new additions. Upon inking a multi-year deal, one new face is eager to share the field with the franchise’s newest cornerstone prospect.
Among the handful of ex-Baltimore Ravens to make their way to the Giants is tight end Isaiah Likely. After spending years catching passes from Lamar Jackson, he’ll now look to build an on-field connection with Jaxson Dart.
During his initial press conference with the Giants’ media, Likely raved about Dart and touched on his eagerness to get to work with the young quarterback.
“Man, Jaxson [is] a great quarterback, a great young quarterback,” Likely said. “Obviously shows a lot of charisma when he’s out there. Excited to get out there and play with him. When you watch him, you see the type of drive he has to win any game by any means necessary. You love that when you have a quarterback like that that’s ready to do whatever it takes to win the game.”
Likely, 25, is coming off a season with the Ravens where he notched 307 yards and one touchdown. Now with the Giants, he has an opportunity to put together a career year in a more prominent role.
Giants TE Praises Giants QB Jaxson Dart’s Recruiting Efforts
Ahead of his first full season as the Giants’ starting quarterback, Dart has been doing his part to aid the front office in their offseason endeavors. Multiple players have spoken out about his efforts as a recruiter, with Likely being the latest to do so.
Later on in his press conference, Likely was asked about Dart’s ability to draw players to New York. He backed up his new QB, stating that he played a role in his choosing to ink a three-year deal with the Giants.
“He get me here,” Likely said in reference to Dart being a good recruiter.
Despite starting his rookie campaign as a backup, Dart has still managed to showcase his abilities enough to entice players to join forces with him in New York.
Jaxson Dart’s Play Style Enticed Isaiah Likely to Sign With Giants
Aside from his overall talent, Dart’s style of play was also a catalyst in Likely wanting to depart from the Ravens to the Giants. Like most young quarterbacks, he quickly built a good connection with his tight end upon taking over the starting job from Russell Wilson.
When asked about Dart’s ability to get tight ends involved in the offense, Likely said it was something that stood out to him when watching film of the Giants QB. Now joining the offense, he is hopeful the two will be able to be a productive duo in 2026.
“For sure. When I watched Dart a little bit during the year, I’ve definitely seen the connection that they had,” Likely said. “Just trying to help him create as (many) big plays as possible.”
Likely will have the chance to start building a bond with Dart in the coming months when OTAs get underway in May.
