The possibility of a trade involving Philadelphia Eagles superstar wide receiver A. J. Brown has taken over the NFL season. The Los Angeles Rams have been in on the talks. They considered moving a key piece in addition to trying to land Brown, according to a new report. The team explored the possibility of trading star receiver Davante Adams, while also trying to figure out how to get a deal done for Brown. Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reported this on Sunday.

The key here is money. Adams will make a reported $24 million in 2026, while Brown will make $29 million.

Florio expanded on this in a column published on Sunday afternoon.

Per a league source, the Rams — while talking about a possible trade for Brown — were pursuing the possibility of trading Adams.

The Rams presumably were hoping to get a deal done by today, when a fully-guaranteed $6 million roster bonus came due. And the payment of the bonus likely means they’ll keep Adams and his $18 million base salary.

Adam signed a two-year contract worth up to $46 million with the Rams on March 9, 2025. This came after he was released by the New York Jets. The Jets were unable to find a trade partner at the time of release.

Adams was able to become a major weapon for quarterback Matthew Stafford. He recorded 16 receptions for 789 yards and 14 touchdowns. The wideout also made some history in the process. He became the first player in league history to lead the NFL in receiving touchdowns with three different franchises. He did so with the Packers, the Raiders, and the Rams.

Adams Showed Consistency for Los Angeles Rams

His statistics were not just a reflection of his production. It was also how he managed to get the job done. He only had one 100-yard game last season against the Tennessee Titans in Week 2. However, he had five receptions for 88 yards against the San Francisco 49ers in week four, and had six receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown against the 49ers in Week 10.

The receiver did not have explosive 100-yard games every single week, but he did provide a measure of consistency.

The veteran also played a pivotal role in the Rams’ postseason run. He recorded 11 receptions for 185 yards and a touchdown in three games.

A Situation To Monitor For Los Angeles Rams

One has to wonder if the Rams exploring a potential Adams trade is something that will come up more frequently in the future. He has one year left on his deal, and can still be an impact playmaker. He is 33 years old, and this could be one of the final big contracts of his career.

The wideout can still be a game-changing receiver. Rams fans saw that in sports last season. He may not be the player he was with the Packers, but he can provide consistency. The playmaker was a key piece of the Rams’ offense last season, and still showed he had something left in the tank. It might be worth moving him now, while his value is still decently high. At the very least, it sounds like the Rams have explored the option. It would be a drastic change to their wide receiver room. That being said, it sounds like they’re open to doing something like that regardless.
