Opinion: Everton will be familiar with what Leeds fans are now going through with Dominic…

Dominic Calvert-Lewin left Everton upon the expiry of his contract last summer.

Calvert-Lewin reportedly had Champions League interest, but he decided to sign for newly-promoted Leeds United.

The 28-year-old netted just one goal in his first 11 games for the Whites, but he really hit form just before the festive period.

Everton manager David Moyes on Europe.

Calvert-Lewin scored in six consecutive games, and for a period, he looked like the signing of the season.

David Moyes probably would’ve been watching with some regret during that period, but now his situation has completely turned on its head.

Former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin struggling at Leeds United

Calvert-Lewin’s purple patch has well and truly come to an end, as he’s failed to score in his last five games, including against Championship outfit Birmingham City in the cup.

The former England international has scored just two goals in 2026, and he missed a crucial penalty against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

Calvert-Lewin managed to put his penalty wide of the post, which could cost Leeds in their pursuit to survive.

Toffees fans are all too familiar with what Leeds fans are now going through, as Calvert-Lewin always seems to go from one extreme to the other.

It’s his inconsistency that separates him from the best strikers in the Premier League, and at the moment, he’s going through a poor spell at the business end of the season.

It’ll be interesting to see if Calvert-Lewin can turn his form around in the final eight games.

In fairness, he’s still netted double figures in the league this season, so that’s certainly a commendable tally.
