Newcastle United, Chelsea and Arsenal 'keeping tabs' on Champions League winner amid major…

The latest transfer talk from Newcastle United as the Magpies are linked with a move for a South Korea international.

Newcastle United are fully focused on their attempts to enjoy a productive end to a challenging season - but the Magpies will also have one eye on what is likely to be another significant summer transfer window.

Several current United stars have been linked with moves away from St James Park in the media in recent months with Sandro Tonali’s agent once again questioning the midfielder’s long-term future on Tyneside. However, Newcastle have also been linked with several possible additions over that time with the likes of Atalanta midfielder Ederson, Toulouse full-back Deyann Methalie and Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel all reported as players on their wish list for the summer window.

Not for the first time in recent months, Paris Saint-Germain star Kang-In Lee has also been named as a player of interest for the Magpies as doubt has been cast over his future with his current employers. After appearing in PSG’s Champions League round of 16 first leg win against Chelsea in midweek, Kang-In has now scored 15 goals and and provided 15 assists in 115 appearances in all competitions for the French giants and was part of their squad that won last season’s Champions League - although he remained as an unused substitute in their final demolition of Inter.

Speaking about the South Korea international just months after he joined the Ligue 1 champions, PSG head coach Luis Enrique said: "I'm very happy. Everything was very good, we had a good result. We love every goal. We dominated a good team, it was a good evening. I saw a lot of things that we are working on all the time. I'm happy with the involvement of the players. I feel it with the supporters. Kang-In Lee, he's small but he can play up front, behind, go inside, on the side, defend, score. He's a complete player. He's a big signing for the club. When we signed him, we knew his potential. He still needs to improve but he's working well."

The 44-times capped South Korea international will head into the last two years of his current contract during the summer and there have been suggestions a number of Premier League clubs are keen to try and tempt PSG into a sale at the end of the season with TeamTalk stating negotiations over a new deal are ‘not progressing quickly’. Kang-In is said to be ‘weighing up his options before committing’ to a new agreement and there are suggestions Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Chelsea are all ‘monitoring the situation’.

The same report also states Aston Villa and Newcastle have been made aware of the situation and have been ‘keeping tabs’ on the versatile midfielder’s progress. However, there is also confirmation PSG are hopeful they can convince the 25-year-old to extend his time at the Parc des Princes by reaching a compromise over the coming weeks and months.
